For the first time, a woman became North Korea’s foreign minister
Chue Sun Hui, a longtime key member of Pyongyang’s nuclear negotiating team with Washington, has been named North Korea’s first female foreign minister.
North Korea’s state media reported today (Saturday, June 11) that North Korea has appointed its chief nuclear negotiator as foreign minister, while North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has promised his ruling party “power for power.” Will be used in the fight against threats against the sovereignty of this country.
Chue Sun-hui, who has long been a key member of Pyongyang’s nuclear negotiating team with the United States, was named foreign minister, Reuters reported, quoting the Korean state news agency Kisyanai.
The appointment comes as the United States warned this month that North Korea was preparing for a seventh nuclear test and said it would push for UN sanctions again if that happened.
Kim Jong Un did not mention the nuclear test at a plenary session of the Korean Workers’ Party Central Committee and did not elaborate on how he could strengthen the country’s military might. Kim said the right to self-defense is a matter of defending sovereignty and once again clarifies the principle of the party’s unchanging struggle for power and face-to-face competition.
According to North Korean state media, he announced goals to strengthen the country’s military power and defense investigations to protect its sovereignty.
According to Reuters, South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Saturday condemned “North Korea’s continued military activity and readiness for a nuclear test”, calling it unacceptable.
