Following the remarks of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the possibility of prolonging the war in Ukraine until 2023, Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), reiterated these statements.
In an interview with the German weekly Bild weekly, Stoltenberg said that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could take years.
He also claimed that the supply of advanced weapons to the Ukrainian army increases the possibility of liberating the Donbas region from Russian control.
“We have to be prepared for the fact that [the war] may take years,” the secretary-general was quoted as saying by Reuters, quoting part of the interview. We must not stop supporting Ukraine. “Even if the costs are high, whether for military support, energy and food prices.”
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian negotiating team, David Arakhamia, said that more than 1,000 Ukrainian servicemen were killed or wounded every day, referring to the significant increase in the number of Ukrainian military casualties in the war with Russia.
