Financial Times claim; Ukraine uses North Korean weapons against Russia.
The British newspaper claimed that Ukrainian soldiers are using North Korean rockets that they say were confiscated by a friendly country and delivered to them.
The Financial Times reported on Saturday (July 29) that Ukrainian soldiers were seen using North Korean rockets that they said had been confiscated by a friendly country. According to the English newspaper, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that these weapons were taken from the Russians.
According to Reuters, the United States has accused North Korea of supplying weapons to Russia, including shipping them by sea, but has not provided evidence to prove this claim. North Korean weapons have not been widely seen on the battlefield in Ukraine. Russia and North Korea deny any arms deals.
North Korean weapons were demonstrated by Ukrainian forces operating Soviet-era Grad multiple-launch rocket systems near the ruined city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, the Financial Times reported.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited Pyongyang last week in a rare visit to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, the first visit by a Russian Defense Minister since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
In a video from the trip, Shoigu can be seen at an arms exhibition in Pyongyang looking at ballistic missiles and other weapons alongside the North Korean leader. Reuters analyzed shows the deepening ties between the two countries as they confront the United States.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Shoigu’s visit will help strengthen military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang and will also be an important step in cooperation between the two countries.
