FBI claims: China and Russia are trying to interfere in the US elections.
American security and intelligence officials claim that the governments of China and Russia are planning to interfere in the midterm elections of the Congress and the presidential elections of this country.
Despite China and Russia’s repeated denials of meddling in the US elections, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) repeated these claims once again.
FBI officials allege that Russia is working to raise doubts about the integrity of November’s midterm elections for Congress, and that China is trying to undermine American politicians it sees as a threat.
The Associated Press wrote Tuesday morning: “A declassified intelligence advisory seen by us says China may be trying to influence certain election races to undermine candidates it believes are hostile to Beijing.” From Beijing’s point of view, interfering in the mid-term elections is probably less risky than the presidential elections.
Despite acknowledging that they have yet to find any credible threats to the US election infrastructure, FBI officials said: “The situation is very complex, much more complex than it was in the 2020 presidential election.”
In a conversation with the Associated Press, a senior official of this organization claimed that Russia is heavily promoting divisive topics on the Internet, which includes making Americans doubt the integrity of the election; But it does not produce exclusive content in this field.
He, whose name or position was not revealed, said: “In general, China’s efforts are more focused on shaping political perspectives, including at the local and state levels, than electoral results.”
Earlier, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives said that his party members will be pressured to impeach Biden if they regain control of Congress in the mid-term elections.
