Fate of Russian commander close to Wagner.
A former Russian army commander who has not been seen in public since the Wagner uprising in June is resting, according to a senior member of the Russian parliament, according to the BBC.
Andrei Kartapulov, the head of the Defense Committee, said that General Sergei Sorovikin is currently unavailable. These words have fueled speculations about the whereabouts of this Russian army commander.
Unconfirmed reports say General Sorovikin has been detained for questioning over his alleged involvement in the Wagner Rebellion.
He is said to have enjoyed close relations with Wagner’s boss, Yevgeny Prigogine.
On June 23rd and 24th, the militia members of the Wagner group staged a brief rebellion and threatened to march towards Moscow.
The rebellion ended after the intervention of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who apparently made a deal with Prigozhin.
Wagner’s soldiers have been told they can join the Russian armed forces, go home or go to Belarus to serve.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the group was completing the process of handing over weapons and military equipment, handing over more than 2,000 items, including tanks, missile launchers, anti-aircraft guns and artillery.
He released a video of the hardware along with large quantities of small arms and ammunition.
General Sorovikin was last seen in public in a video during the Wagner Rebellion, calling on Wagner’s forces to stop their actions.
Media reports announced his arrest a few days later, but there has been no official confirmation or comment on his whereabouts.
The general took charge of Russian forces in Ukraine in October, but was dismissed three months later.
During the Russian operation in Syria, he became known for his harshness, where he became known as General Armageddon.
