Erdogan: Türkiye’s relations with Russia are “special” and growing.
In an exclusive interview with CNN, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that Russia has “special” and growing relations with Russia.
According to CNN, these statements of Erdogan are made before the second round of presidential elections in this country and despite the pressure on Ankara to implement Western sanctions against Russia.
Erdoğan said: We are not in a position to impose sanctions against Russia like the West. We do not adhere to Western sanctions. We are a strong government and we have positive relations with Russia. Türkiye and Russia need each other in all fields.
Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Erdoğan’s electoral rival, openly accused Russia of “interfering” in Turkish elections in the first round of Turkish presidential campaign, and implicitly warned that this action could affect relations between the two countries.
Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections were held last Sunday, and none of the candidates could win more than half of the votes, and the second round of these elections will be held on June 7 between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
In the first round of elections, Erdoğan and Qaliçdar won the most votes, and Senan Oghan came in third with 5% of the votes.
