Erdogan: Turkish elections will be held on May 14.
According to Reuters, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today (Wednesday) that the country’s presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on May 14 (May 24, 1402).
Erdoğan said in a speech to the lawmakers of Turkey’s Halam Justice and Development Party: God willing, the people of this country will do what is necessary on May 14.
Previously, the date of Turkey’s national elections was announced on June 18 (28 June), but Erdogan said about a month and a half ago that the Justice and Development Party wants to hold these elections earlier.
After the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Turkey last month, which left more than 45,000 victims, there were rumors of a possible change in the date of the elections in this country, and some believed that these elections would be held in the middle or end of the year will be postponed.
