Erdoğan and El-Sisi meeting; Temporary reconciliation or fundamental change.
After 9 years, the President of Egypt shook hands with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar.
A number of political analysts believe that the meeting between Erdoğan and El-Sisi could not have been fleeting and was carried out with high-level coordination, and it will probably bring changes in the case of Egyptian-Turkish relations in the future. At the same time, these analysts admit that there are strong differences between the two countries, especially on the issue of Libya and support for the Muslim Brotherhood, which will take time to resolve.
In this regard, the Egyptian diplomatic official told the “Eram News” news site on Monday: The bilateral meeting between the presidents of Egypt and Turkey was held in Qatar, and in this connection, an official statement will be issued within the next few hours.
Hamid Faris, head of the Egyptian Political and Strategic Studies Center and a lecturer at the Geneva Institute for the Resolution of Regional Disputes affiliated with the Arab League, said that the meeting was held with prior coordination and said: It is not possible that this meeting was just a temporary meeting.
He pointed out that “this meeting will be a positive step and a real beginning for progress in Egypt-Turkey relations”, adding that differences and disagreements between the two countries can only be resolved through direct consensus.
The head of the Center for Political and Strategic Studies of Egypt, regarding the expected consequences that may occur after such meetings, stated: Considering the relations and influence it has in this case, Egypt can be involved in the Eastern Mediterranean conflict between Turkey and Turkey in the future. on one side and Greece and Cyprus on the other side to mediate.
Also, “Mohammed Mujahid Al-Ziyat”, the consultant of the Center for Intellectual and Political Studies of Egypt, also expressed his opinion by stating that “the handshake between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart is an important development and has many meanings”. The meeting has very good implications and is an introduction to the conversation and the next steps.
