Energy Crisis; Where are the European governments heading to?
Following the sanctions on Russia by Western countries, a severe energy crisis has arisen in European countries, and this crisis has caused us to see widespread protests and strikes in European countries almost every day.
Shortly after Russia’s attack on Ukraine on March 5 last year, Western countries along with the United States of America imposed sanctions against this country. Sanctions that apparently did not only target the Russian economy and have challenged many European countries.
In a speech, Biden announced Russia’s sanctions against this action. He announced that we with our partners; This means that the 27 members of the European Union, Australia and New Zealand, which account for 50% of the world’s economy, sanction Russia. Thus, the second round of Russian sanctions began. The first round of these sanctions happened when the people of Crimea voted in a referendum to join Russia.
The embargo on Russia by Western and European countries caused this country to take measures to circumvent the sanctions in a preemptive action. Russia’s preemptive actions caused a severe energy crisis in Europe. Although according to some analysts, America was the country that provoked Ukraine to join NATO in order to weaken Russia on the one hand and the European Union on the other so that it remains the only hegemonic power in the world. But inflation has not only affected European countries, it has also put America in danger.
“Mehdi Khorsand”, an expert on Eurasian issues, said about the background of America’s enmity with the Russians and also America’s attempt to remain as the only hegemonic power in the world: “After World War II, we witnessed the process of bipolar order in the world, which the Americans, because the countries of the world They did not join the communist movement and did not fall under the ideology of communism, they supported Europeans, printed dollars and tried to support Europeans and industrialize European countries based on hegemonic tools.
Describing the order that ruled the Western Bloc after the Second World War, he said: “The Americans tried to liberalize the countries of the world. But as that time passed and the countries gained more power, the demand for independence also increased in them. America, which was in a unipolar world after the collapse of the Soviet Union, was trying to make the world a village that has one God and that is the Americans. This position caused public dissatisfaction among European countries and countries that had reached industrial progress and achieved a high economic status. Along with the Europeans, some other actors had gained power in the world. These countries included China and Russia. These were the powers that sought to create a better place for themselves in the world.”
