The UAE’s diplomatic adviser said that the UAE has the right to legally defend its territory and sovereignty after Yemeni media reported that Emirati fighters had bombed various parts of the country.

According to a report today (Friday), the official news agency of the UAE (Wam), the two sides discussed the recent operations of the Yemeni army and popular committees against Abu Dhabi.
“The UAE has a legal and moral right to defend its territory, its sovereignty and its people, and it will do so in self-defense and in preventing terrorist acts by the Houthis,” the UAE president’s diplomatic adviser told the UN envoy. .
“The UAE continues to support the global effort for a ceasefire and a political solution [in Yemen],” Gargash said, adding: “But the country [the UAE] to prevent the threat of terrorist acts against its territory. “It will do whatever it takes.”

On Monday, after repeated warnings from Sanaa to Abu Dhabi about interfering in Yemen’s internal affairs and trying to escalate tensions in the country, Emirati media reported that parts of the country had been targeted by drones.
The report came as Mohammed al-Bakhiti, a member of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement’s political bureau, told Al-Arabi before the attack: “There is a deal between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, according to which Saudi Arabia “Southern Yemeni provinces, including Shabwa, will be handed over to the UAE, and in return, the UAE will use all its military capabilities as in the past [in Yemen].”
