Egypt’s determination to develop relations with Syria.
According to Sputnik, “Mustafa Kamel”, professor of political science at Cairo University, in connection with the recent consultations between Egyptian and Syrian officials, emphasized: The Egyptian government has always been interested in establishing a permanent channel of relations with Syria.
Referring to more than a decade of severe relations between Cairo and Damascus, after the start of the Syrian war, he added: Considering the strategic partnership between Egypt and Syria in important ethnic issues, the long years of severe relations between the two countries could not overshadow these relations. .
Mustafa Kamel added: The Egyptian government was always interested in reestablishing communication channels with the Syrian government, especially considering that the Syrian crisis was caused by the threat of terrorist groups, which Egypt has been involved with in the past.
Referring to the mutual visits of the foreign ministers of Egypt and Syria to Damascus and Cairo in recent weeks, he said: The main purpose of these meetings was to discuss important issues, including the full resumption of relations and the Arab region’s support for Syria.
The Egyptian political expert emphasized: Egypt is trying to resolve the Syrian crisis peacefully, and on the other hand, it is determined to help Syria establish relations with Arab countries, including the UAE and Jordan.
He added: Another goal of Egypt at the present time is to create a space for Saudi Arabia not to oppose Syria’s return to the Arab League at the appropriate time.
