Earthquake in Afghanistan and Pakistan; 11 killed and more than 120 injured.
The media of Afghanistan and Pakistan announced that at least 11 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured in the earthquake that shook parts of these two countries and India last night.
So far, the most casualties have been reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state in Pakistan.
This is despite the fact that in Afghanistan there is still no accurate report of the casualties of this earthquake and Kabul government sources say that two people were killed and 20 others were injured in this incident.
“Bilal Karimi”, the deputy spokesman of the Afghan government, wrote on his Twitter that so far, two people have been killed and 20 injured have been transferred to medical centers.
However, Pakistani media reported that nine people were killed and more than 100 injured in the Swat region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Bilal Faizi”, the spokesperson of Pakistan’s emergency services, told the Associated Press that the reason for the death of nine people was that the roofs of the houses in Swat came down.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, this 6.5-magnitude earthquake shook northern Afghanistan on Tuesday evening and caused a strong tremor throughout the country and parts of northern Pakistan.
This earthquake was at a depth of 194 km and its center was in the Hindu Kush mountain range near Badakhshan.
