Doctors’ strike in several German states. “Verdi” union’s warning about the expansion of strikes.
Doctors in several German states held a massive strike yesterday in protest of working conditions, and the German trade union announced new strikes in some sectors due to the lack of agreement on wages with employers.
Citing the newspaper “Pasayer Noye Presse”, doctors went on strike in several federal states of Germany. They want higher wages and better working conditions. In this way, thousands of doctors have stopped working.
According to the German media, the doctors in the clinics of six federal states of Germany started a strike. The doctors’ union Marburger Bund called for a stoppage of work for doctors in the states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
According to the union, around 4,000 doctors from several federal states came to Munich for a central march. Andreas Butzlaar, head of the Federal Association Marburger Band, asked employers in Munich to come up with a proposal that recognizes and recognizes the work of doctors.
The situation in many hospitals is so critical that the use of emergency personnel has become routine, Butzlaar said. According to him, employers can take the pressure off the pot.
The Association of Municipal Employers (VKA) has repeatedly criticized such strikes and called it an unnecessary action at the expense of patients. According to this association, Marburger Bond has no understanding of the strained financial situation in hospitals.
The “Marburger Band” wants a 2.5 percent salary increase from employers for about 55,000 doctors in municipal clinics. In addition, from January 1, 2023, compensation must be considered for price increases that have accumulated since the last fee increase in October 2021. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 3 and 4.
