Latifullah Hakimi, head of the Taliban’s purge commission, said that since the commission began its work, more than 600 people abusing the Taliban have been identified, arrested or fired in 22 provinces.
He added that the men had been arrested or removed from office on various charges, including collaborating with ISIS and misusing military equipment.
“Hekmatullah Hekmat,” a military expert, told TOLOnews: “To strengthen the system and give immunity to the citizens of Afghanistan, clearing the ranks of the security and defense forces is a necessity.”
Another military expert, Asadullah Nadim, said: “If this is really to remove unworthy people from the ranks of the Taliban and start from the top, it is effective and has a positive result, otherwise it is nothing but a fuss.”
Taliban officials have previously said that the process of distributing ID cards and military uniforms to Taliban members to prevent the misuse of their names will begin soon.
The Taliban Council of Ministers (October 10) issued a statement announcing the decision to expel “undesirable” individuals from the Taliban, which led to the establishment of a liquidation commission.
The Taliban Liberation Commission recently announced at a meeting that field trials and arbitrary operations by Taliban members are prohibited.
