Damascus: Turkey seeks ethnic cleansing in Syria.
An official source at the Syrian Foreign Ministry said that Turkey’s move to create a so-called “safe zone” is part of a policy of racial and geographical cleansing.
A senior official at the Syrian Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned the hostile military actions of Turkish forces in northeastern Syria.
Syria’s official news agency (SANA) quoted the source as saying that Syria has been rejecting Turkish military actions over the past few days in areas and villages in the northeast; Operations that have killed civilians and displaced dozens of families.
He added that Turkey’s move to establish a so-called “safe zone” was “very ugly” and was part of the Turkish government’s policy of racial and geographical cleansing in the occupied Syrian territories.
The source stated that these actions are war crimes and crimes against humanity, adding that any party that operates illegally and outside the scope of the Syrian government and gives Turkey an excuse to attack Syrian civilians is responsible for this. It is a crime.
He stated that the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria will not be a position of blackmail or bargaining for the governments of Turkey and the United States and some Western countries that seek little political achievement against the nation and the territorial integrity of Syria.
The source concluded that Syria is using any means to counter any action by Turkey and its mercenaries, in accordance with its right under international law, and is calling for the withdrawal of illegal forces from its territory.
In recent weeks, however, there have been repeated whispers of another Turkish operation in the north and northeast of Syria against Kurdish militants, and field conditions have led to new incidents.
