Damascus: The European Union violates the most basic human rights of the Syrian people.
Criticizing the EU’s blind adherence to US policy in imposing sanctions on Syria, a Syrian Foreign Ministry official said that Damascus was thwarting the enemies’ conspiracy by strengthening national unity and fighting terrorism.
Syria stressed that the European Union and the United States have full responsibility for the suffering of the Syrian people by imposing unilateral sanctions on them.
In an interview with the official Syrian news agency (SANA), a Syrian Foreign Ministry official said that the EU institution, by extending its illegal unilateral coercive actions against Syria, once again showed that it insists on repeating the lies about the situation in Syria; Lies that are far from the truth and are a sign of complete disregard for the positive developments in this country.
The Syrian official further mentioned among the great achievements of Syria the continuation of the fight against terrorism, the strengthening of stability, the expansion of national reconciliation and the resolution of the situation of many citizens through the issuance of amnesty decrees in this country.
The source added: “It is not surprising that the EU institution remains a prisoner of the past due to its blind adherence to US policy, loss of decision-making independence and full participation in the aggression against Syria.”
He stressed that the European Union and the United States bear full responsibility for the suffering of the Syrian people as a result of unilateral coercive unilateral actions in clear violation of the most fundamental human rights and the principles of international law.
The Syrian official added: “The Syrian Arab Republic emphasizes the need to hold accountable the countries that carried out these coercive measures and stole the wealth of the Syrians, and to pay compensation to the Syrian people.”
