Crack in the White House; Rising tensions between Biden and Harris.
An American network reports that some of Vice President Joe Biden’s efforts are smelling like an election campaign with the president, and this has led to rifts in the White House.
According to CNN Harris, in a meeting with his confidants, complained about not being given a sufficient role in the case of leaving Afghanistan, while she had previously said the opposite in an interview with American network. When Biden chose Harris as his electoral partner, she sought to be named as the future of the Democratic Party, but now people close to Harris feel that as Biden’s popularity in the polls declines, Harris’ popularity is waning. Even the main body of Democratic voters may turn away from her.
“Kamala Harris is a leader, but she is not in the leadership position,” said one of Biden’s and other Democrats. This does not fit with reason. We must think long-term and do the best that is in the interest of the party. She must be in a position to succeed. “If you give her the power to step in and help her lead, both you and the [Democratic] party will be strengthened.”
Although Harris told her confidants that she was pleased with the dynamism of working with Biden, those who work for them believe that the relationship between them has reached a stalemate, the report said. Complaints are rising between the White House left wing and Harris team. Harris’s team is very upset that Biden has handed over the management of diplomatic relations with the Northern Triangle (including El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala) to his deputy but has not given her a role in the South American border itself. The refugee situation became a crisis in the early days of the Biden administration, and it seemed that the mission assigned to Harris had failed on all sides. Biden did this out of respect for Harris, because it was exactly the same mission that former US President Barack Obama (who was then vice president) gave him. .
CNN added that Harris had previously said she did not want to take charge of the southern border because she knew the situation along the southern US border would not bring her political success. But the fact that Harris avoided answering reporters’ questions about the southern border bothered Biden. When asked why she did not cross the southern border, he laughed and replied in a strange way, which became controversial, but Biden did not defend him.
Biden’s aides have repeatedly told Harris that they would like to be given more work and asked Harris’s office to find a way to get him more involved. Harris’s staff chief, Tina Flornoy, who knows his job is still lame and has little political time, goes to White House Chief of Staff Ron Klein and asks for help. Klein, who has twice served as vice president of staff, advises Florence on how to raise resources for the vice president’s office.
Cyrus writes that Harris’s aides believe that Biden is not as vulnerable to various attacks or exposure to the toxic social media environment as his deputy. As a result, changes were made to the vice president’s office to address these concerns, and two new appointments were made to help with long-term planning and communication, strengthening Harris’s team and the White House left wing. He went to the National Committee of the Democratic Party.
The Democrats’s National Committee hired a contract advisor as part of helping Harris, but insiders said things did not go well because Harris’s staff often only called to request a Twitter wave after the negative news broke. Meanwhile, some Harris office staff are seeking resignation.
