Controversial recommendation of Johnson official administrator; Work harder to cover costs.
In a controversial speech, a senior official in the government of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called for an increase in people’s working hours to be able to pay for living expenses.
A senior British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday called for increased working hours to be able to pay for living expenses.
According to the Sky News website, Rachel McLean, the British Deputy Secretary of Defense, said that people who struggle with living expenses may work longer hours or go to a better-paying job.
McLean said these are some of the ways families can protect themselves by raising prices.
“In the long run, we need to have a plan for economic growth and make sure that people can better protect themselves, whether by spending more hours or going to a better-paying job,” he said. “Long-term action is what we as a government are focused on.”
His remarks drew widespread protests from British politicians. Peter Kyle of the Labor Party described how he recently met with people in a bank who were going through a very difficult time. Ms McLean later tweeted that her views on a long-term plan had been misunderstood.
Rising inflation, rising energy bills and high gas station prices have become the current challenge for the Johnson administration. Stephen King, the former managing director of the British chain chain store, the second largest chain in the country, has announced that the golden age of low food prices in this country is coming to an end.
The Bank of England reported last week that inflation is likely to exceed 10 percent and reach a 40-year high.
