In the wake of Ukraine’s conflict with Russia, a number of senior US lawmakers met with the Ukrainian president.
News sources reported on Saturday evening, Tehran time, that a number of senior US lawmakers had traveled to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, to meet with the Ukrainian president.
According to Reuters, Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell met with other Republican senators on an unannounced visit to Kiev on Saturday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky.
McConnell is pushing Republican Sen. Rand Paul to end his opposition to a $ 40 billion bailout package for Ukraine, which has the strong support of both major US parties.
“They just want the resources they need to defend themselves against this insane attack,” McConnell said of the Ukrainians in recent days. “They need this help now.”
