Consultations between Riyadh and Damascus regarding the resumption of political relations.
The Saudi Al-Akhbariya network, quoting an informed source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, reported that talks are underway between Riyadh and Damascus regarding the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He added: The authorities of the two countries are consulting about the resumption of consular services.
Yesterday, Reuters quoted “informed sources” as saying that the governments of Syria and Saudi Arabia have recently agreed to reopen embassies in their capitals after cutting off diplomatic relations in 2011.
In an interview with Sputnik last week, knowledgeable sources announced that Saudi Arabia is considering reopening its consulate in Damascus after the holy month of Ramadan. According to these knowledgeable sources, Russian and Emirati mediation has led to the removal of obstacles between the two Arab countries, and it is possible that the Saudi consulate in Damascus will reopen after Eid al-Fitr.
These sources added that measures are underway to resume official diplomacy between Syria and Saudi Arabia after international and Arab efforts in this direction.
The aforementioned sources emphasized that after the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the efforts of Russia and the UAE behind closed doors have been fruitful and have led to the rapprochement of Saudi Arabia and Syria.
