Congressman: Trump behaved like a “painstaking idiot in front of Putin.”
A Democratic lawmaker said the former president treated the Russian president like a “useful idiot.”
The current administration’s approach to Russia is quite different from that of the previous administration, said Medellin Dean, a member of the US House of Representatives on Thursday.
“I am very pleased with the development of the relationship between President [Vladimir] Putin and our president,” the Democratic lawmaker told Xinhua. “Because in my opinion, this shows a strong contradiction between this government and the previous government.”
Madeline Dean added that the previous US administration “behaved like a stupid idiot against Putin” but that the new US administration has “the credibility and understanding of decades and decades of diplomacy and the power of diplomacy.”
“This is a positive sign that President Putin understands who President Biden is up against,” he said.
The former CNN presenter noted that former US President Donald Trump had provided heavy arms to Ukraine and that there had been no recent media coverage of a Russian invasion of Ukraine under his administration.
“President Biden can not do more than support Ukraine,” Madeline Dean said in defense of Biden’s government. You saw what the previous president did to Ukraine. “He tried to exploit Ukraine for his own benefit.”
