Iman Mohammadi*; Meanwhile, Shabova province spent the last week (the first half of August 2022) in a conflict between Islah Party forces and those loyal to the Emirates, which by examining the events of the past months, we will find that the step-by-step elimination of Islah Party as one of the effective players in the field Yemen’s politics is on the agenda of the Saudi-UAE alliance.
Infiltrating the Brotherhood fortress in the south
Shabwah province, located in the center of the southern provinces of Yemen, is of special importance due to its gas and oil resources and access to the open waters of the Arabian Sea [1]. Although Islah party did not want to focus on Shabova province for its activities; But the developments after 2015 and especially the rebellion of the southerners in Aden in 2019, caused the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood to focus on activities in Shabwa and turn this province into its stronghold by developing infrastructure.[2]
The process of strengthening the Islah party in Shabova province was progressing rapidly when the entry of popular committees and the army under the control of Ansarullah in the north of Shabova created an excuse for the coalition to accelerate the process of weakening the Islah party in this province. After the complete conquest of al-Bayda province and in pursuit of al-Qaeda forces under the “Rabi al-Nasr” operation, the Ansarullah movement attacked the south of Marib province and the northwest of Shabwah province and succeeded in advancing to Asilan region in this province.[3] After this advance, the media The Yemenis unitedly joined the Islah Party and considered the weakness of this party as the reason for Ansarullah’s advances.
Media pressure and Ansarullah’s advances caused the Islah party to agree to the entry of West Coast forces into Shabwah to fight Ansarallah; But at the beginning of their arrival in Shabova and before being sent to Beihan front, the Al-Malaqah brigades took control of the main offices and Ataq airport in Shabova and weakened the control of Islah forces over Shabova.
