A Chinese-affiliated newspaper called for a “people’s war” to defeat US spies after a new CIA unit focused on China, according to the International Group of News News.
According to the China Morning Post, reports of the launch of the China Mission Center on October 7, which were reported by CIA Director William Burns and said to be aimed at countering “the most important geopolitical threat of the century,” were reported in the Chinese media. It has become very widespread.
A video clip that has been widely circulated in recent days by many Chinese state media shows the CIA recruiting Chinese-speaking agents who speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Following this, a Chinese military newspaper called for a “people’s war” to defeat US espionage after the CIA set up a new unit.
“No cunning fox can defeat a good hunter,” the newspaper wrote. “To maintain national security, we just have to trust and rely on the people.”
“People’s war is necessary to protect against the dangers of intelligence and the impossibility of spy action,” the newspaper continued.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian had previously condemned the CIA. In an interview with CNN last week, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Lu Yucheng also questioned US President Joe Biden’s sincerity in his commitment to a new Cold War with China, and intensified efforts. Washington criticized Beijing for restraining.
Chinese officials have been aware of the dangers of foreign espionage over the years. Following the revelation of detailed instructions in April, China’s Ministry of Security announced in August that the number of espionage, economic and financial cases had increased sevenfold compared to five years earlier.
