China: Ukraine should not become the ground for conflict between great powers.
According to “TAS” news agency, Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, today, Thursday, in a press conference, emphasized his country’s position that Ukraine should not become the front line of the confrontation between the great powers of the world. His statements were made in response to the words of Henry Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State, regarding the need for Ukraine to join NATO, with the aim of securing Europe’s security.
The Chinese diplomat said: “In the current situation, all parties involved in the conflict in Ukraine should be calm and restrained and avoid any actions that may aggravate and complicate the crisis.”
According to Wang, European countries should work to strengthen stability in this continent, and the security of all countries should be ensured through dialogue and consultation. Only during dialogue can a solution be found that will guarantee this stability in the long term.
However, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized the continued expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. According to him, the purpose of this action is to protect member countries and endanger the security of several other countries, and such a policy will not lead to good results.
Wang Wenbin emphasized: regional security cannot be guaranteed by strengthening or even expanding military blocs, and the security of one country cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of other countries.
