China expresses its concern about the US spying on diplomats’ phones.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed concern about the hacking of iPhones by the US to spy on foreign diplomats working in Russia, including Chinese diplomats.
The disclosure of American spying on the mobile phones of Russian and Chinese diplomats in Moscow was accompanied by Beijing’s deep concern.
On Thursday, Russia’s Federal Security Service announced that several thousand iPhones used in Russia were infected with malware that would allow US intelligence agencies to spy on users of the devices.
According to the “Rashatudi” website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China expressed concern about the hacking of iPhones by the United States to spy on foreign diplomats working in Russia, including Chinese diplomats.
The department emphasized that the United States has long relied on its technological advantages to carry out indiscriminate espionage operations worldwide.
China’s Foreign Ministry, while condemning the US spying through technological means, said: “For this reason, all countries in the world should exercise more vigilance.”
The severe tensions in relations between China and the United States as the world’s two largest economies subsided somewhat late last year with the meeting between Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bali in November.
This meeting was able to resolve some of the concerns created after the visit of “Nancy Pelosi”, the then-speaker of the US House of Representatives, to Taiwan in August.
