China called for an international investigation into US and British war crimes.
According to reports published in the British media, members of the British Special Forces (SAS) in Afghanistan repeatedly killed prisoners and civilians and even competed with each other to kill more of these people. The investigation also shows that these forces were suspected of hiding the crime scene and the British authorities were also involved in the concealment of these cases.
“Wang Wenbin”, the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in response to the publication of these reports: “What comes out of these revelations is shocking and cruel.” He added: These reports are reminiscent of previous revelations of the killing of Afghan civilians by American and Australian forces. However, the brutal violation of human rights by the US and its allies, which defies human conscience, is not limited to the current cases and is widespread continuously.
According to previously published reports, between 2003 and 2008, thousands of Iraqi civilians were harassed by British soldiers with methods of arrest, beating, humiliation, rape and even murder.
But America’s records are even more hateful. Over the past 20 years, Washington has conducted more than 90,000 air strikes on countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, which have killed 48,000 civilians. Farmers working in the fields, children playing in the streets, families fleeing war and villagers hiding in their homes have all been targets of American crimes.
This official of the Chinese government continued his statement in response to the aforementioned reports and emphasized: The worst thing is that instead of thinking about their crimes, England and America are trying to divert the public’s mind.
According to international media reports, the Overseas Operations Act 2021, introduced by the British Parliament, would protect its soldiers overseas who have committed torture and other serious crimes and hamper efforts to hold perpetrators accountable.
