Canada has sanctioned 48 Russian individuals and entities.
According to Russia Today TV channel, Canada expanded its sanctions against Russia on Tuesday.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada in this regard states: The new measures will affect 14 natural persons and 34 legal entities.
Part of this statement states: Tatarstan President Minikhanov and Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Pankov were included in the list of sanctions today.
The mentioned statement further adds: A company belonging to Prigozhin, the founder of “Wagner” group, and “Volga-Denper” group of companies and its manager have also been sanctioned.
Ottawa has claimed the continuation of Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine as an excuse for this action.
In March of last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada announced the imposition of sanctions against several Russian individuals and entities.
Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Ottawa has sanctioned 129 Russian individuals and 63 entities following the war in Ukraine. These sanctions included senior government officials and Russian defense institutions.
This is despite the fact that Canada had already announced the beginning of the implementation of its promise to deliver combat armor to Kiev.
In this regard, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand said: a Canadian Air Force plane carrying the first Leopard battle tank to Ukraine has left Halifax.
The Minister of Defense of Canada published a picture of the moment the Leopard tank was loaded into the plane and wrote on his Twitter page: Canada stands by Ukraine and we will continue to provide all the necessary facilities for the armed forces of Ukraine until victory.
It should be noted that the Russian army started its “special military operation” in eastern Ukraine last February 24.
In order to counter the advance of the Russian army in Ukraine, America and Western countries have imposed many sanctions against Russia while sending all kinds of advanced weapons to the Ukrainian army. On the other hand, “Sergei Lavrov”, the Russian Foreign Minister, has also said that any shipment and convoy carrying military weapons for Ukraine is a legitimate target for Russian forces.
