Call for the expulsion of the British ambassador from Libya.
Libyan activists have called for his deportation from Libya, creating a hashtag in protest of the British ambassador’s interference in their internal affairs.
Libyan activists have launched a social media hashtag calling for the expulsion of British Ambassador to Libya Caroline Horndal.
The British embassy in Tripoli issued a statement on its Twitter account stressing that “Britain recognizes the government of national unity as the institution responsible for leading Libya until the elections and opposes the creation of parallel governments and institutions.”
Libyan activists reacted to the British embassy statement by calling for the expulsion of the British ambassador.
“What the British embassy has said about recognizing the government of Abdul Hamid Dubai will not go unanswered until the election,” one activist wrote on Twitter.
He called on the Libyan people to take to the streets to protest the blatant interference.
“National groups in the East, West and South must convene immediately and put aside their political differences to save the homeland,” wrote another activist.
Tawfiq al-Shahaibi, head of the High Council of the Coalition of National Groups, also wrote that the British ambassador’s statement on Independence Day (Libya), which undoubtedly reflects his country’s position, is a clear interference due to disrespect and lack of minimal diplomatic interaction between countries.
