British Prime Minister: Putin must be defeated.
The British prime minister condemned Russia’s stance on Ukraine and called for pressure to “defeat Putin”.
Commenting on recent developments in Ukraine, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Western countries were ready to impose immediate sanctions on Russia.
Western officials continue to react to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to grant independence to the Donetsk and Luhansk republics and to send a “peacekeeping force” to the Donbas region of Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday (yesterday) took a stand on the developments in Donbass in eastern Ukraine and recognized the independence of the two republics of Donetsk and Luhansk from Ukraine. He also ordered the Ukrainian army to enter Donetsk and Luhansk to carry out a “peacekeeping” mission to protect residents of the two republics from attacks by the Ukrainian army.
The British Prime Minister threatened Russia with severe sanctions.
Russia’s response to developments in eastern Ukraine has drawn strong reactions from the United States and its Western NATO allies, who have accused Moscow of “violating Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty.” Western nations have also announced their readiness to impose sanctions on Russia.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson posted a video of his remarks on his Twitter page on Tuesday, in which the leader of the Conservative Party and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom warned Russian President Vladimir Putin about Western sanctions and called for his defeat.
“Vladimir Putin has violated Ukrainian sovereignty and international law,” he said. We will immediately impose a package of sanctions on Russia’s economic interests. “It is absolutely vital that the conquest of a European country does not succeed and that Putin fails.”
“Vladimir Putin must be defeated,” Boris Johnson told Westerners.
The remarks came as senior Russian officials announced that Moscow had recognized the independence of the two republics in order to protect the lives of residents of Donetsk and Luhansk against attacks by the Ukrainian army.
