The British analytical website wrote that the Saudi peace initiative in Yemen was launched not out of arbitrariness but following their defeat in the war and pressure from Washington.
Saudi Arabia has been forced to offer a “peace” solution after six years of war against Yemen.
In a report cited above by Jonathan Finton, referring to Saudi Arabia’s recent claim of a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen, the Bayern Times news-analytical website wrote that the Riyadh initiative was not voluntary but the Saudis six years later. The war in Yemen, which has wreaked havoc on the country, has accepted the offer.
The author of this British media writes that Saudi Arabia has been forced to present this alleged ceasefire plan under the pressure of the United States of America.
“Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who announced the invasion of Yemen in 2015 as Saudi Defense Minister, has definitely come to the conclusion that he has lost the war in Yemen,” the report said. The Houthis [Ansarullah] have become powerful in northern Yemen, and Tehran has become a foreign actor. “At a time when Riyadh has spent more than $ 100 billion and [in return] has shown itself to have a damaged diplomatic image.”
The author of this report, based on his observations on the vegetation and leaf-eating of the Yemenis in order to survive the result of this six-year war against Yemen, writes “These tragic events will not be easily erased from my mind. “I believe these events and [images in my mind] will accompany me for the rest of my life.”
According to the report, the United States, as a partner of Saudi Arabia, is putting pressure on bin Salman. That came after US President Joe Biden announced he would suspend arms sales to Riyadh in February; Statements that Saudi Arabia was forced to “get into trouble and offer a peace initiative.”
Following the offer, which was made by the Saudi Foreign Minister on March 22, Martin Griffiths, the UN special envoy for Yemen, and Timothy Linderking, the US envoy to Yemen, met with representatives of Yemeni Ansarullah in Oman. In addition to the ceasefire, Riyadh has proposed reducing the land, sea, and air siege.
According to the report, despite Riyadh’s proposal, many Yemenis still feel the destructive impact of the conflict and believe that Saudi Arabia’s proposal will not suddenly alleviate the country’s problems.
“They are happy to hear about the offer of peace and a ceasefire in Yemen, but they are worried that Riyadh will not fulfill its commitments,”
