Boycotting Taliban will strengthen ISIS in Afghanistan.
Speaking to Middle East News on Monday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan called on the US government not to turn Afghanistan into a safe haven for terrorists.
Imran Khan also warned of the need for global engagement with the current government in Afghanistan, saying that if Afghanistan is not accepted under the Taliban, extremist groups are likely to emerge. “It will be a disaster.”
Emphasizing that the Taliban is the best group to eliminate ISIL, he said that a stable Afghanistan and a stable government can counter ISIL.
Reiterating the Western countries’ call on the Taliban to respect the rights of Afghan women and girls, especially in the field of education, the Pakistani Prime Minister said that they [the Western countries] should give time to the Taliban, because they have already promised it.
Imran Khan reiterated his call for the international community to cooperate with the new Taliban government, noting that the nature of the Taliban is such that they may react negatively, which could be unconstructive and destructive. There will be a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
In another part of his speech, the Prime Minister of Pakistan noted that the number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan has decreased since the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
