Johnson resigned from his position as a member of the British Parliament from the Conservative Party on Friday evening, issuing a statement that was read on the “Sky News” channel.
In this statement, he said: “I have written today to the offices of my [conservative] party in two constituencies to inform them that I am resigning [from the parliament] immediately and that an immediate by-election should be started.”
According to “Sputnik” news agency, the former Prime Minister of England has decided to resign from the parliament after receiving the results of the investigation of a parliamentary committee regarding his action in misleading the parliament in the scandal related to the violation of the time limits of the corona virus epidemic.
“I am very sad to be leaving Parliament, at least for now,” Johnson said in a statement. But most of all, I am shocked and appalled that I may have to leave this position in an anti-democratic way.”
According to this report, Johnson is now under investigation after new evidence that the ex-prime minister of England violated anti-coronavirus restrictions reached the “privileges committee” of the country’s parliament.
