Bin Salman: The crisis in relations with Doha was a family dispute.
In an interview, the Saudi Crown Prince described Saudi Arabia’s relations with Qatar as very good.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman gave an exclusive interview to the American website “Atlantic” in which he spoke about the most important political-security issues of Saudi Arabia, including its relations with Qatar.
“Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is a great leader, and what happened in the Riyadh-Doha relationship was like an argument between members of a family,” Ben-Salman said of the recent crisis between the Arab Gulf states and Qatar, according to Russia Today.
Asked if the crisis with Qatar was over, the Saudi Crown Prince acknowledged: “Certainly this family will remain a family and the issue was like a friendly dispute.” This means that we will definitely go through it and become better friends. The same rule applies to the GCC countries, and we have a common view on 90% of political issues; Because our opportunities and challenges are common.
He added: “We, the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, are like a single government, and this is the reason that leads us to form a joint cooperation council; Because working together guarantees our security. This joint cooperation will also ensure the success of our economic plans and will show that our political mechanisms have the potential to succeed. Certainly we have differences, but our role in resolving these differences and deepening our interests will show.
“I do not want to talk about negative issues; We overcame this issue and today we have very good relations with Qatar. Tamim bin Hamad is a great figure and leader, and our goal is focused on building a good future with this country. The Qataris are very close to us and our relations are now better than ever in history.
