Bin Salman ordered the execution of his cousin on charges of plotting a coup. Saudi Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman has ordered the execution of his cousin and former Saudi coalition commander in Yemen, a Saudi source said.
The Washington-based Institute for Persian Gulf Studies wrote that a Saudi military court had sentenced Fahd bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, cousin of Muhammad bin Salman and former commander of the Saudi army in Yemen, to death for “great treason.”
The institute quoted a relative of Fahd bin Turki as saying that another charge was “attempting a coup against King Salman and his son Muhammad bin Salman.”
According to the report, bin Salman, a cousin and former commander of the Saudi coalition in Yemen was arrested in September 2020 along with his son, who was then deputy governor of Al-Jawf, on charges of “corruption”.
Fahd bin Turki, 60, was the commander of the Saudi coalition operations headquarters in Yemen until August 31, 2020. Prior to that, he commanded the Saudi Army, the Paratroopers Unit, and the Special Forces.
Another point is that he is the son-in-law of “Abdullah bin Abdulaziz”, the former Saudi king, and the wife of “Nura bin Abdullah”, and “Muhammad bin Salman” has imprisoned or exiled members of Abdullah’s family as much as he could in the past years and has seized their wealth.
The Saudi website Lex also wrote that the growing influence of “Fahd bin Turki” among the Saudi military and military commanders and his friendly relations with the Yemeni tribes caused concern among Muhammad bin Salman and a conspiracy against him to the point that he issued an arrest warrant on the pretext of corruption. .
Two weeks ago, cyber activists and some opponents of the Saudi government wrote that “Abdul Aziz Al-Huwairini,” the head of the Saudi security service and director-general of the intelligence service, had been arrested.
