Biden’s security adviser meets ambassadors of UAE and Saudi Arabia.
During a meeting with the ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the White House National Security Adviser emphasized Washington’s commitment to the two countries’ security and spoke about the recent operations of Yemeni forces against Abu Dhabi.
White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met Monday night with UAE Ambassador Youssef Al-Atiba and Saudi Arabia Ambassador Rima Bint Bandar Al Saud in Washington.
The meeting was held to discuss the recent successful operations of the Yemeni Armed Forces and People’s Committees against military targets in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, according to a White House statement.
“The two ambassadors and Sullivan discussed joint efforts to respond to the Houthis,” the statement said. “Sullivan emphasized the United States’ commitment to the security of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where tens of thousands of Americans live and work.”
Referring to UN efforts to end the war in Yemen through a political process, the White House National Security Adviser stressed the importance of all parties’ adherence to their obligations under international humanitarian law.
A spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces announced details of Monday’s operation against Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, known as the “Age of Al-Yaman 2” (Storm of Yemen 2), which was carried out with the Zulfiqar ballistic missile and the Samad UAV.
This is the second operation by the Yemeni army and popular committees against Abu Dhabi in the past week; The operation comes after Sanaa repeatedly warned the UAE of the need to stop invading Yemen.
