Biden’s claim: Russia’s cyber attack on the United States is on its way.
The US president has claimed that the Ukrainian army will strike Russia using Western weapons, claiming that Russia is investigating a cyber attack on the country.
US President Joe Biden on Tuesday morning warned of the possibility of a massive Russian cyber attack on Russia in the coming days.
“[Russian President Vladimir Putin] never thought that NATO would remain determined,” Biden said in a speech at an economic roundtable.
According to Reuters, he claimed that Ukraine was destroying the Russian army using weapons provided by NATO and the United States.
“He has nowhere to go now and is making new excuses [to escalate the Ukraine war],” he said, continuing his anti-Russian claims about Putin. “This is not a joke.”
According to the report, Biden also claimed that Putin was considering the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, as well as resorting to cyber attacks.
“[This attack] is on its way,” he claimed of Russia’s cyber attack on the United States, according to Reuters.
The White House also warned on Monday that there was information that the Russian government was considering options for potential cyber-attacks on the United States.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky said it was necessary to meet with his Russian counterpart and leave the decision on reconciliation with Russia to a referendum in Ukraine. (More details)
On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for assistance from the Donetsk and Luhansk republics (separatists in eastern Ukraine). Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that “demilitarization and de-Naziization” were key objectives of the operation. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it has no plans to occupy Ukraine, and that the Russian armed forces are only targeting Ukraine’s military infrastructure. The United States and its allies, including Japan, have responded to Moscow’s move by imposing comprehensive sanctions on Russia.
