Biden’s anti-Chinese cooperation with the Europeans.
Referring to the Deputy Foreign Minister’s meeting with his European counterpart, a US State Department official said the two sides should engage with the People’s Republic of China from a position of power.
A US State Department official said Wednesday evening that the Biden administration is working with the European Union to coordinate its strategies for dealing with China.
Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman is scheduled to meet with her European counterpart Stefano Sannino on Thursday as part of the Washington-Brussels talks on China, the group’s second meeting since the previous discussion in May.
According to the Hill website, the US State Department source told reporters that the focus of Sherman’s meeting with Sannino would be to predict the future strategy of the situation in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
“They will discuss areas of cooperation and synergy between strategies,” he said.
According to Hill, a joint statement is expected to be issued after the meeting, which the official said was “strong” and focused on unity between the United States and the European Union, and would criticize China’s challenges to the world.
The unnamed official claimed: “We know they have to deal with the People’s Republic of China from a position of power. “This requires working with allies and multilateral partners and in bilateral frameworks, such as this week’s debate, because it is much harder for the People’s Republic of China to ignore our combined weight.”
