Biden signed the law facilitating lending to Ukraine.
The US president has signed a new mandate given to him by Congress to expedite military aid to Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden signed a law Monday evening to facilitate lending to Ukraine.
According to US media reports, Biden signed a new mandate given to him by Congress to expedite military aid to Ukraine.
“I am signing the decision to expedite the shipment of arms to Ukraine because it is important,” the US president tweeted about the signing of the Ukraine Loan Facilitation Act.
According to the RIA Novosti website, the document, approved by both houses of the US Congress, is designed to simplify military aid to Ukraine. In particular, it temporarily removes a number of requirements related to the US President’s authority to lend defense equipment if it is to be considered by the Ukrainian government or other Eastern European countries exposed to Russian aggression.
“The Democrats in Congress want to increase Biden’s $ 33 billion package of aid to Ukraine to $ 40 billion,” the Associated Press reported, citing its sources.
Earlier, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she supports putting Russia on the list of countries supporting terrorism.
Since the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, Western countries have made every effort to use all kinds of pressure and sanctions against Moscow in order to isolate Moscow from the international community. The United States and its allies have stepped up their political, arms and economic support for Ukraine as pressure mounts on Russia.
