Beijing: By selling weapons to Taiwan, America has violated the principle of one China.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized on Friday evening that the US action in selling weapons to Taiwan is a dangerous violation of the principle of one China and harms the relations between the two countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China announced in a statement on Friday evening (Tehran time) that Beijing hopes that Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan will fully adhere to the ceasefire agreement and prevent the escalation of tensions and resolve the tensions through dialogue.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China also emphasized: “The action of the United States in selling weapons to Taiwan is a dangerous violation of the principle of one China and will severely damage the relations between the two countries.”
Taiwan is considered a part of China that has separatist claims; Claims that the countries of the world and the United Nations do not recognize. Beijing has always opposed any contact between Taiwanese representatives and Western officials, especially high-ranking political or military officials from countries with which Beijing has diplomatic relations, saying these visits violate the one-China principle and send wrong messages to separatist forces.
The recent visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan drew China’s anger, and following this visit, Beijing held large-scale military exercises around Taiwan, including the firing of ballistic missiles. Some time after Pelosi’s trip, two other delegations of US Congress representatives, the first one headed by Democratic Senator Ed Markey and the second one headed by Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn, made separate trips to Taipei.
Despite China’s warnings to the US about interfering in Taiwan’s affairs and inciting separatist sentiments on the island, Washington continues to defend Taipei. “John Kirby,” the coordinator of strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, said last Tuesday that the United States is determined and serious about its commitment to maintain Taiwan’s ability to defend itself.
