Bashar Assad: The Arab League is a mirror of the situation in the Arab countries.
The Syrian President, who hosted the Algerian Foreign Minister, while criticizing the Arab League, emphasized that the Syrian people will not forget the positions of Algeria.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtan Lamamara, who is in Damascus, visited Syrian President Bashar al-Assad this Monday afternoon (August 3rd).
The official Syrian news agency (SANA) reported that the strengthening of fraternal relations between Syria and Algeria, which is based on common principles and values, and the desire and will of both sides to develop relations were the most important topics of the meeting.
Lamamareh also delivered a message from Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun to Assad, the content of this message was the development of bilateral relations, the continuation of consultation and coordination between the parties regarding the problems of the region, as well as the preparation of the Arab leaders’ meeting in Algeria.
Assad, while appreciating the Algerian nation and government, said: The Syrian nation will not forget Algeria’s position in the war against Syria and always remembers that Algeria is a brotherly country that adheres to its principles and Arabness.
Emphasizing that Syria is looking for new horizons of cooperation with Algeria, he clarified: The Arab League is a mirror of the Arab situation. What is important for Syria is the content and outcome of joint Arab activity.
Lamamareh also said: Syria is an essential element among the Arab countries and a founding member of the Arab League. The Arab world needs Syria and this is not the other way around. Algeria will also support Syria.
He emphasized that Algeria is seeking to develop relations with Syria and hopes that an opportunity will be provided for the meetings of the joint commission of Syria and Algeria.
The President of Syria has already said about the Algeria summit: Perhaps the only weight of this summit is that it will be held in Algeria. It is a fact; Because Syria’s relationship with Algeria has been a constant relationship in any situation – from the time of this country’s independence from France until today.
