Al-Khafaji continued: “A large number of US troops have begun to withdraw from Iraq.” The Americans have no barracks or military bases in Iraq, except for a small part of the Ain al-Assad base, which is currently run by the Iraqi army, as well as the al-Hariri base, which has a small number of Iraqi forces and most of which are controlled by Peshmerga forces where the region of Iraqi Kurdistan is located.
