Axius: Tehran and Riyadh are considering reopening embassies.
Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia will send a delegation to both countries in the next 30 days to discuss the reopening of embassies, the Axius website reported.
Regarding the fifth round of talks between Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Axios website wrote that the fifth round of talks between senior Iranian and Saudi security and intelligence officials last Thursday focused on two key challenges: the normalization of relations and the Saudi-led war in Yemen.
Axius claimed in his report that there had been discussions in the talks between the Iranian and Saudi representatives about the re-establishment of diplomatic relations and the reopening of embassies, and that Riyadh had called for more practical action.
The report states that Riyadh has agreed to reopen the Iranian embassy in Saudi Arabia for activities related to the Jeddah Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and an informed source said that the two sides decided to send a delegation to both countries within the next 30 days to Discuss the reopening of embassies.
According to the report, Saudi Arabia has also agreed to allow 40,000 Iranian pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia for the Hajj in July.
Axius quoted some sources as saying that during last week’s talks between Tehran and Riyadh representatives, Iran had a positive view of the ceasefire in Yemen, but stressed that practical steps must be taken to move towards lasting peace.
According to the report, Riyadh changed its regional policies last year after Saudi Arabia’s relations with the United States cooled after Joe Biden took office.
The Iranian government has repeatedly stated that it prioritizes relations with its neighbors, regardless of the status of the 2015 nuclear deal.
Axius went on to point out that Saudi and Iranian officials will meet again in Baghdad in the coming weeks, and before that, a lower-level meeting will be held between Riyadh and Tehran in Oman.
