Assassination of Ecuadorian presidential candidate.
According to Al-Mayadin, the local media in Ecuador reported the assassination of Fernando Viavicencio, the presidential candidate of this country, during an election rally in the capital of Ecuador.
These media reported that Viavicencio was killed in this assassination operation and a number of other people present in this gathering were also injured.
He was killed by three bullets in the head. A member of his campaign announced that Viavicencio was shot dead by an unknown man while trying to get into his car.
The current president of Ecuador also confirmed the assassination of this presidential candidate. He announced that this crime will not go unpunished. The President of Ecuador pointed to the holding of a meeting with Ecuadorian security officials to investigate this disastrous issue in this country and emphasized: We will apply the most severe punishment to the perpetrators of this crime.
Following the assassination of Ecuador’s presidential candidate, the country’s president declared a 60-day state of emergency throughout Ecuador.
He stressed that this state of emergency will begin today and the armed forces will be deployed throughout the country to ensure the security of Ecuadorian citizens and the presidential elections.
