According to Zaman website, Abul Ghait, who was speaking in the food security working group of the climate change meeting, pointed to the meeting of the Arab League in Algeria last week and said that the food crisis was discussed in detail in this meeting and the participants discussed the implementation of some plans. including increasing production, correct use of resources and changing consumption patterns.
The Secretary General of the Arab League also said that due to the spread of the Corona virus and the subsequent crises, the number of poor people in Arab countries has increased, so that more than a quarter of the Arab communities live in poverty.
In his speech, Abul Ghait pointed to the issue of financing as a major problem that prevents the implementation of programs that reduce the Arab food gap, saying: “In this context, countries will try to mobilize the resources available to Arab financial institutions. But they also need the help of the international community to achieve sustainable food security.
The 27th “United Nations Climate Change Assembly” in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, started its work yesterday (Monday) with the presence of international organizations and representatives of some countries.
