America’s reaction to the reopening of the diplomatic facilities of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The official of the National Security Council of the White House and the deputy spokesperson of the US State Department claimed that the improvement of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia is useful if it limits Tehran.
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the reopening of diplomatic facilities in Saudi Arabia was accompanied by the reaction of the White House and the US State Department.
In response to a question about the improvement of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, John Kirby, the coordinator of strategic communications at the National Security Council of the White House, said on Monday evening: “The Iranians and the Saudis should talk about this themselves.”
It was on Monday that the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran said that Iran’s diplomatic places in Saudi Arabia, including the embassy in Riyadh, the consulate general in Jeddah and the permanent representative of Iran in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, will be officially reopened on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the American media, Kirby claimed in response to this news: “What I can say in general is that we support more integration, more dialogue and more transparency throughout the Middle East region.”
He further added: “If the reopening of the Iranian embassy in Riyadh can help increase the transparency of their operations, reduce tensions, lead to a reduction in their destabilizing behavior… then everything will be positive.”
On the other hand, “Vedant Patel”, the deputy spokesperson of the US Department of State, claimed in response to a similar question: “We have long encouraged dialogue and direct diplomacy, including between Iran and regional governments.”
