Iraqi politicians warned; of America’s dangerous plan to arm the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
According to al-Maluma, although the US opposes giving weapons to Iraq, it has recently agreed to sell weapons to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in an agreement far from the eyes of the Baghdad government and in conflict with international laws and diplomatic customs.
Jassim Al-Mousavi, one of the representatives of the Iraqi Parliament, emphasized that the US decision to arm the Peshmerga forces and sell air defense weapons to them is a violation of international laws, and none of the internal groups have the right to directly negotiate with other countries. interact away from the knowledge and presence of the central government.
He added: The Iraqi government must take action through diplomatic channels to stop this action of America. Arming the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is considered as an intervention in the internal affairs of Iraq by the US.
Al-Mousavi stated: We are trying to raise this issue in the relevant political institutions to achieve a unified position against this agreement between the US and the Kurdistan Region.
Abbas al-Maliki, a member of the Iraqi Government of Law coalition, also emphasized: America’s relationship with Erbil independently of the Iraqi central government will exacerbate the internal divide in this country. America has violated Iraqi sovereignty by agreeing to sell air defense weapons to Erbil.
He added: Such an action will destroy the stability of the country regardless of the central government of Iraq. Washington is trying to target the independence of Iraq and the internal security of this country.
Al-Maliki stated: America’s cooperation with local internal trends without informing the central government will cause the internal situation of Iraq to move towards more divisions and differences. If Iraq decides to strengthen the American internal groups with different weapons, will Washington accept this issue?
He said: America should respect the sovereignty of nations and countries based on international laws and act through the central government of Iraq in its interactions with internal currents.
Iraqi security and military expert “Aqeel al-Ta’i” also emphasized in this regard: America intends to strengthen the Peshmerga forces by providing air defense weapons to act against the central government. How is it that America does not give weapons to Iraq, but on the contrary, it does such a thing?
He added: This American action is very dangerous for Iraq, and the Iraqi government and parliament must take a firm stand against this move by Washington.
