The organization announced that Abu Dhabi requested Washington to provide it with 96 THAAD missiles, two launch control stations and two tactical management stations within the framework of this agreement. This deal will also include maintenance of spare parts and other equipment.
The US Defense Cooperation Organization acknowledged that the weapons to be sold to the UAE “will be in line with the foreign policy and national interests of the United States and by contributing to the security of an important partner for Washington in the region.”
Washington added in his statement: “The UAE is an important partner of the United States in political stability and economic development in the Middle East; This possible agreement will increase the UAE’s capabilities to face the threat of ballistic missiles in the region.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the US Defense Cooperation Organization simultaneously announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country has agreed to a similar possible contract based on the sale of the Patriot missile defense system to Saudi Arabia.
