American weapons in Afghanistan have become a threat against Pakistan.
According to the Independent, the interim prime minister of Pakistan announced that if the American weapons left in Afghanistan fall into the hands of the militants, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, this situation will be very dangerous for Pakistan.
Anwar Haq Karkar said, “This equipment, which includes a wide range of military weaponry from night vision goggles to warm salam, has now become a new challenge for Islamabad, as access to these weapons has increased the fighting capabilities of the Pakistani Taliban. “
The relations between Pakistan and the Taliban have faced challenges in the last few months. Last month, the Pakistani army commander warned against an effective response to the Taliban group in Afghanistan. The Pakistani army has accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring militants and armed groups responsible for cross-border attacks, and therefore the Pakistani army demanded effective action by the Afghan Taliban to arrest members suspected of bombing Pakistani targets.
The Pakistani army released a statement saying that “such attacks are intolerable” and that if the Taliban government in Afghanistan does not do anything, “it will face an effective response from the Pakistani security forces.”
The Pakistani army added: “Participation of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities in Pakistan is another important concern that needs to be addressed.”
The dire warnings of Pakistan’s army and its commander, General Asim Muneer, were issued after two militant attacks on Pakistani soldiers in the southwestern province of Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan. Soldiers responded by firing and killing seven of the attackers.
General Munir paid tribute to the fallen soldiers during a meeting in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. He said that Pakistan is concerned about the security resources and freedom of action that the Pakistani Taliban have in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Pakistan’s foreign minister warned against “direct action against cross-border terrorism” referring to the attacks of the Pakistani Taliban, and said that his country could reconsider its strategy to deal with the Afghan Taliban.
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan further stated that his country will not tolerate cross-border attacks and said: We reserve our right to take direct action against these organizations. Not only Pakistan but also other countries of the world should interact with the Taliban in Afghanistan. We cannot ignore the Taliban, they are part of the reality. But about our interaction, especially in connection with the Pakistani Taliban issue and our expectations from this group, maybe we can reconsider. But we cannot completely abandon interaction.
