According to Russia 24, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad said that the presence of US troops in Syria was illegal and that they should leave Syria as soon as possible.

 He added that if US troops do not withdraw from Syria, they will suffer the fate of Afghanistan.

 Al-Muqaddad and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting between them in New York yesterday, stressed the need to end the illegal presence of foreign troops on Syrian soil and stressed the need to continue the fight against terrorism until their complete destruction and unilateral action against Syria.
