American diplomat’s attempt to destroy Iran-Saudi Arabia agreement.
The representative of America in Yemeni affairs claimed that Iran is sending weapons to Yemen despite the agreement with Saudi Arabia.
“Timothy Landerking”, the US special representative for Yemen affairs, tried to question the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia by presenting distorted information.
Landerking claimed that despite the agreement with Saudi Arabia, Iran smuggled weapons and drugs to Yemen to fuel the conflicts in this country.
The American diplomat claimed: “The Iranians have continued to smuggle weapons and drugs in this conflict, and we are very worried that this process will continue despite the benefits of the Iran-Saudi agreement. So I think we’re in a space here that we have to keep an eye on.”
US government officials have publicly supported the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Despite this, some reports indicate that members of the “Joe Biden” administration have expressed their displeasure with it in behind-the-scenes circles, especially that the agreement was made with Chinese facilitation.
Last month (April), the Wall Street Journal reported that the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia angered William Burns, the head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and he conveyed this issue to Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia.
The Wall Street Journal writes that Burns told Bensalman that “the United States is shocked by Riyadh’s reconciliation with Tehran and Syria, both of which are still under Western sanctions.”
Many experts have considered the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Beijing, the capital of China, as a sign of the decline of American influence and the beginning of a new era of international relations.
